Our incense begins its journey on the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, where the tradition of incense-making has been passed down for generations.
More than 300 villages are part of this craft, with small communities provided the tools and skills to continue this ancient art. Each stick is carefully hand-dipped into IFRA-certified fragrance oil.
Life’s full of little breadcrumbs and clues that lead us to new places. Sometimes you follow them, sometimes you make your own trail.
Hide the Skunk was created by doing a bit of both.
It started with friends falling in love with our incense. My parents would "snowbird" in Sri Lanka and bring back a few packs of incense. My girlfriend and I would savour each stick and make the one pack of incense last for 12 months or more!
Then came the late nights, good smoke, and the inside joke of “hiding the skunk” from parents, creating moments of laughter and a sense of belonging and sneaking around like we were teenagers.
From there, a deeper purpose took root: to honour our Sri Lankan heritage and share it proudly from our home in Canada.
Every stick carries the essence of tradition, craftsmanship, and culture passed down for generations.
At its core, Hide the Skunk is a celebration of where we come from and who we are.
A way to say to the world:
“Sri Lanka makes extraordinary incense.”
Once formed, the incense travels to Colombo, where it is hand-dipped by qualified aromatherapists using only certified fragrance oils.
Each stick is coated with care, creating a long-lasting aroma that lingers for days. Every batch is made in small quantities, preserving the authenticity and integrity of this timeless tradition.
The journey then continues in Canada, where each pack is hand-packed in Markham, Ontario, ensuring quality and consistency before it reaches you.
We're a mother/daughter duo and love serving our community and bringing artisan incense sticks to you!
